On the route from Gadastatt to Zervreila enjoy the impressive panoramic views over the opposite side of the valley. Hike through snow-covered moorland and over an alpine region blanketed in white. Above you is the Dachberg where skiers and free-riders can find the perfect conditions. In Frunt (1,990 m), the St. Anna chapel built in 1754 is situated right at the front on a rock face. From here you can enjoy views over the Zervreila dam. The 2,821 m high Zervreilahorn ("Grisons' Matterhorn") sits enthroned above the lake at the far end.

Author’s recommendation

At the start you can relax on the sun terrace of the mountain restaurant Gadastatt with a beautiful view and strengthen for the hike.  Arriving in Zerfreila you can recharge at restaurant Zervreila with a refreshing drink and a piece of blueberry pie (specialty). In winter rent a sledge for the 7 km long distance to Vals. It is an unforgettable experience. The sledge can be rented at Restaurant Zervreila. Alternative: With the Zervreila Shuttle to Vals. Timetable see www.zervreila.ch. Tel 081 935 11 66; or www.vals.ch
