The unique winter experience: a hike across the well-tracked, frozen Lake Sils from Maloja to Sils Maria.

The feeling of vastness cannot be surpassed. We start in Maloja Posta, pass the cross-country skiing centre and turn towards Hotel Maloja Palace. There we meet the lake shore and the adventure begins. Over the frozen lake we walk straight on until we reach Sils Maria. Officially the path is usually open from January. For the way back the post bus or the Engadin bus leaves from Sils Maria every 30 minutes.

Author’s recommendation

Those who wish can stop halfway in the unspoilt authentic hamlet of Isola at the Hotel Restaurant Lagrev.
