Ftan - Pignai (BP)
From Ftan Grond up to the HIF Swiss International School and Sports Academy and counterclockwise around the historically important Muot Pednal.
moderate
Distance 4.2 km
From the Visitor Information Centre at the PostBus stop Ftan, cumün, the route leads westwards to the HIF Swiss International School and Sports Academy. Below the sports school you will find the cross-country ski run, where World Cup athletes such as the Cologna brothers, Nevin Galmarini and the Haller siblings were allowed to train. Parallel to this, the trail crosses the field and then follows the edge of the forest at Arsüra. Above the road connecting Ardez and Ftan, the path turns left and soon reaches the main road. Follow this road for about 200 metres toward Ardez and turn left at the exhibition area into the forest, through which you will reach Hotel Paradies. From here the path leads past the old mill via Nügla back to Ftan Grond and to the starting point of the hike. This scenically very attractive loop at Ftan's sun terrace is well known to many top athletes who once attended school and sports class at the institute.
Author’s recommendation
The circular hike leads along the Loipa Dario Cologna – his former training track was dedicated in honour of the Olympic champion – around Muot Pednal. Young athletes of the sports class regularly train on this "breathtaking" cross-country trail.
