Trail running
· Engadin St. Moritz
This run is a must for any trail runner exploring the Engadin for the first time, traversing a calm, intimate valley landscape, with magnificent views of the Morteratsch Glacier.
easy
Distance 12.1 km
From Pontresina station, head through the Taiswald past Surovas station before joining a smaller path that takes you winding through the trees up the Bernina Valley. Don’t miss the turn off, which comes around 2.5 km into the run on your right! Enjoy this rollercoaster trail before taking the right hand fork signposted towards Boval Hut. After a short climb, crossing a babbling brook or two, the path offers a glimpse of the majestic Morteratsch valley and itsvast mountainous backdrop. Pause to take in the view before descending to the valley floor and then gently climbing up to the tongue of the third-longest glacier in the eastern Alps. Enjoy the tranquillity before descending back to Morteratch station for a well-deserved snack before taking the train back to Pontresina. However, if you are still full of energy, there is always the option to run back!
