There's a crunch in the air between the over-sugared pine and larch trees, and the crunch comes from breaking manoeuvres when it gets really tight in a curve. Then it's time to lift the sled snout, drill the ends of the runners into the snow, and start again to build up speed for the long straights. The region's most racy of all toboggan runs has 20 curves, is 4.2 kilometres long,  and covers 718 metres of altitude difference. And at the bottom, there's only one thing you want to do: go up again and experience this thrill of speed for a second time.
