Turn-by-turn directions
This round trip starts at the 'Chalchofenhütte' in the Schraubachtobel. The historic path is signalled right from the station Schiers and leads you from the cabin within an hour round the Salgina-World-Monument Bridge back to the starting point. The ascent to the panoramic vantage point is on the right side of the gorge. The short detour to the platform is signalled and is definitely worth the few additional metres, because from there the bridge presents itself from a special angle. After having taken a number of photos you continue climbing up to the bridge. The view from the bridge down to the gorge is simply breathtaking. The gaze roames 90 metres down before you can recognize the Schraubach deep down. You might dare to make a detour underneath the bridge which is rather impressive. On the right of the bridge the trail takes you back in the direction of Schiers.
It is worth looking back now and then in astonishment of the engineer's skill which has granted the population of Schiers the only World-Monument of Switzerland.
