This hiking through one of Switzerland's most beautiful mountain landscapes, takes you from Bernina Ospizio to the Cavaglia Glacier Garden.
Distance 8.6 km
Hiking through one of Switzerland's most beautiful mountain landscapes, you will learn about eco-power and how it is generated. It will take you some two-and-a-half hours to get from Bernina Ospizio to the Cavaglia Glacier Garden. The trail passes idyllically situated Lago Bianco and then meanders through the Palü gorge.
Covering the distance from the Bernina mountain pass to Cavaglia, your body will burn 0.34 kilowatt-hours or 295 kilocalories. The energy included in four apples or a chocolate bar will do to recharge your batteries. Did you know how eco-power is generated from cow dung, how power is fed to a socket, how the Bernina railway line was built, or how come hydropower is actually solar power? You will find answers to these and other questions on twelve information panels along this eco-power trail.
Children can follow the racy ride of the water drop Pluschin. The children's booklet is available at Ospizio Bernina or at the Tourist Information Pontresina or Poschiavo.
