Not only is the Val Roseg regarded as one of the most beautiful side valleys in the Engadine, it is also easily accessible - either on foot or by mountain bike.
The tour begins in Pontresina (railway station) and continues slightly uphill along the valley floor on a wide unpaved road. And it is with the Roseg stream's gentle babbling waters in our ears that we get ever nearer to the snow-covered tops of the highest summits in the eastern Alps. By the time we reach Hotel Roseg, the wonderful glacier panorama of the Bernina Massif opens up before us. Here we have the possibility of taking an enjoyable break on the restaurant terrace or to hike to the glacial lake (Lej da Vadret). Once we feel we have had our fill of all this mountain scenery, it is time to relax on our way back along the valley.
Note(s) There are horse-drawn carriages operating on the section of road between Pontresina and Restaurant Roseg - so please take care!
Free mountainbike maps are available at the tourist offices.
