The starting point is the Promulins Arena in Samedan. Crossing the main road, you reach Lej Gravatscha, an idyllic mountain lake with barbecue areas. At the end of the lake, near Isellas, information boards provide information about the Innauen renaturation project. The trail continues along the Inn to La Punt, where the path branches off to the right into Val Chamuera, one of the last original Upper Engadin side valleys.  The gravel road is easy to bike on. From time to time the steeper sections along the track require a little more muscle power. The valley gradually narrows into an impressive gorge before opening up again into a wide high-plateau at the rear of the valley. Then, out of nowhere, appears the old white Serlas house once used by mule traders. Here there is a fork in the valley and those, keen to continue, have a choice: either take the steep ascent to Alp Prüna or the more leisurely route along the Ova Chamuera to the steep final section up to Alp Prünella. The return journey to Chamues-ch is on  the same trail. Cross through Chamues-ch to the other side of the valley. Past Arvins and along the old cantonal road, you reach the beautiful Engadin village of Bever. At the end of Bever, the trail continues uphill for a bit before reaching Samedan.

Author’s recommendation

In the autumn and in the evenings the valley is in the shade and the descent to La Punt can be quite chilly.
