433 Poschiavo - San Romerio

The climb, which starts immediately after leaving Poschiavo and continues until you get to the hamlet of Cansumé, is not particularly challenging and perfect for riders who prefer to approach altitude gradually. The view sweeps across large areas of the west side of the valley and its peaks. At the hairpin bend before the alpine farms, you leave the tarmacked road and continue first along a rough track and then the bridle path towards Gügliel and Balegna. From there you take the gravel track, which leads to the highest point, Sclupetoir at 1,906 metres altitude, of the route. A break at the little group of alpine farms to enjoy the view of the valley is a must.

The route continues downhill and leads straight to San Romerio. After viewing the picturesque little church and tasting delicious Poschiavo specialities on the alp you head along the rough track to Piaz.

The ride continues on tarmac. After roughly one kilometre towards Brusio you turn off to Garbela via Selvaplana in order to take the trail to Miralago. There the clear water of the Poschiavo Lake tempts the bravest riders to take a dip while others can take in the picture postcard view from the terrace of the Restaurant Miralago. Along the lakeshore and via Le Prese the route ends with a leisurely, flat section in Poschiavo.
