The Monstein Route features fantastic but also challenging single trails between Jatzmeder and the Walser village of Monstein, with beautiful panoramic views of the mountains surrounding Davos.

The tour across the Hauderalp is at times technically very demanding, but does open up a stunning vista of the lower Landwasser valley. After an initial climb we reach Clavadel, at the entrance to the Sertig valley. A short descent takes us down to the Sertigbach stream, where we cross the road into the famous Sertig valley. The track continues in part on a single trail across the Heidboden (BBQ spot) and the Junkerboden to Spina. Spina is the starting point for the main climb to the mountain station of the Jatzmeder Rinerhorn cable car. At the highest point of the tour, with sensational panoramic views of the mountains surrounding Davos, we turn into a tricky alpine trail. It leads to the Hauderalp, where the alpine farmer sometimes has fresh milk on tap, so to speak, for thirsty bikers. After a few bends along the road heading towards Monstein an exciting single trail once again forks off in the direction of Oberalp and Inneralp. From the Inneralp we then head downhill towards Monstein. The inns and restaurants in the pretty little Walser village welcome bikers in their beer gardens, serving all sorts of refreshments not to mention the famous locally brewed Monsteiner beer. After this short, refreshing break we continue on our way downhill via Spina to Glaris, where we switch to the other side of the valley to escape the traffic on the main road. Untroubled, we make our way across the Lengmatta and Frauenkirch, back to our starting point at the Davos Sports Centre [Sportzentrum].
