Varied circular tour south of the Rhine with a view of the Sardona UNESCO World Heritage Site, Flimserstein, Rhine Gorge and Safien Valley. Start and finish is at the Versam observation platform.
The circular tour starts at the Islabord car park and vantage point, between Versam Station and Versam Dorf. The view of the Rhine Gorge from the Islabord platform is breathtaking and always worth a look. Right from the start, the route is varied taking you through woods and meadows, through Versam and up to the farms at Calörtsch. Riding along dirt tracks, almost effortlessly, you soon reach the highest point of the tour on the Brünner Alp.
Here too you are treated to a particularly exciting panorama. Looking across at the Flimser Plateau, you can see impressive traces of the big rock-slide that happened about 10,000 years ago. Dirt tracks swiftly take you all the way down to the village of Brün. From there you take minor roads until you reach the main road which you cycle along for a very brief stretch before continuing along forest roads back to the starting point.
