Diese Tour bietet einen einmaligen Ausblick auf die Eisriesen rund um den Morteratschgletscher und das Berninamassiv. Der Morteratschgletscher bei Pontresina (rätoromanisch Vadret da Morteratsch oder Glatscher dal Morteratsch) ist einer der grössten Gletscher der Ostalpen.
Er gehört zu den Gletschern der Berninagruppe im Kanton Graubünden in der Schweiz. Wie alle Alpengletscher ist auch der Morteratschgletscher im Rahmen der globalen Erwärmung von umfassendem Schwund betroffen; so verkürzte er sich zwischen 1900 und 2017 um etwa 2500 Meter.
