From the top station of the Älpli cable car, the path leads to the Obersäss/Vilan junction, then right along the hiking trail into the road in the direction of Obersäss.

Beim Wegweiser «Ober Tritt» geht es weiter über den Bach und dann rechts haltend dem Ruchenberg entlang bis zum Ostende des Bergs. Auf teilweise nassem Boden führt der Weg nordwestlich bis zum Sattel «Ober Tritt» und scharf rechts auf den Zuckerstock (Kegel), wo die Gäste ein eindrückliches Alpenpanorama erwartet. Retour verläuft die Wanderung wieder über den Sattel und nördlich auf einem kurz absteigenden Pfad bis zur Alp Bad. Von dort geht's über den Kamm bis zur Vorderalp und zurück zur Bergstation der Älplibahn. Auf der Wanderung entdeckt man eine reichhaltige Alpenflora, Murmeltiere, Gemsen, Adler und weitere Wildtiere.
