Semi-difficult hike from Arosa through the larch wood passing the Wals colonies Medergen and Sapün to Langwies. This hike provides a fantastic panorama across the Schanfigg valley all the way to Chur and even to the Glarner Tödi.

This hike leads through larch wood, across Alpine meadows and picturesque Wals villages. Take a break and visit the restaurant Alpenrose in Medergen. After the descent Chüpfertälli it is worth taking a small detour to the mountain restaurant Heimeli. If you wish to stay longer you may also stay overnight in one of the cosy bedrooms. Before heading back down to Langwies it is highly recommended to take a stroll through the Dörfji Sapün.
This hike is only possible during the summer season.

Public-transport-friendly
The Rhaetian Railway leaves Chur to Arosa and back at hourly intervals. The Untersee lake is accessible by foot or the local bus.
As of Langwies you may take the Rhaetian Railway back up to Arosa.
Getting there
Once you arrive in Chur, follow the sign posts Arosa. At the village entrance, opposite the petrol station, turn left and follow the street all the way down to the Untersee lake.
Parking
There is only a limited amount of parking spots at the Untersee lake. It is recommended to park at the car park Ochsenbühl, it is located a few hundred metres from the train station Arosa.
