Semi-difficult hike from the authentic Wals village Tschiertschen via the Ochsenalp to Arosa. The view from the Ochsenalp across the Schanfigg valley is simply amazing.
Distance 14.3 km
Starting point of the hike is the authentic Wals village Tschiertschen with its picturesque house and unique village centre. The trail leads uphill - sometimes a bit more and sometimes a bit less - but always accompanied by the sound of cow bells. Once you pass the tree line the path becomes a bit flatter and finally arrives at the Ochsenalp. The restaurant at Ochsenalp offers traditional delicacies. Afterwards you have the choice between two beautiful trails back to Arosa. Either you enjoy the hike along blueberry and juniper berry bushes via the Scheidegg passing the Scheidegg lake and arriving at Prätschli. Or you prefer the path through the larch forest and via the Wolfsboden that leads to the Roten Tritt where a stunning view with a nice bbq area invites to linger. From the Roten Tritt the trail continues along the Prätschsee lake down to Prätschli.
