Il Malögin
The itinerary begins at the Belvedere Tower in whose vicinity you can visit the Marmitte dei giganti (Giants' potholes) scattered in a beautiful fir wood close to the village of Maloja. The castle is not very old. Its construction began in the mid-nineteenth century on the initiative of a Belgian count, but the work had to stop for a long time. Due to the interest of the Tourist Board and of the Swiss League for the protection of nature, the whole area has been acquired creating the present park that can be visited before starting the Malögìn hike. The ruins of the ancient Church of San Gaudenzio and those of the "Torr" above the village of Casaccia, are other very interesting places touched by our short itinerary. As you can see it is a route that combines landscape and naturalistic aspects with others of historical interest.
