This is an entertaining hike from St. Antönien (1450 m above sea level) - which was originally a very small village of the 'Walser' population - over to the charming village Schuders.

From St. Antönien-Platz you follow the sign to Aschüel. When you get to the farm in Aschüel you walk along the street on the left for about a hundred metres until you get to the signpost to Salfsch - Schuders. First the trail leads you over well-tended meadows and afterwards through beautiful forest down to the gorge towards the suspension bridge across the stream called 'Chleibach'. From that bridge the path leads you up to Salfsch und further on to Schuders. In Schuders it is worthwhile having a rest at the cosy Mountain Inn Post. If you prefer to walk back instead of taking the post-office van you will be rewarded by the outstanding sight of the Salgina-World-Monument Bridge. In fact this is Switzerland's only World-Monument of engineer's skill .

Author’s recommendation

It is an absolute must to taste a pizza out of the stove at the Mountain Inn Post where you can also stay over night and enjoy the HotPot. Here you will be impressed by the stars in the sky - not just above the entrance of the hotel !
