Jeweils im Oktober und Ende April bis Ende Mai führt die Schweizer Armee Schiessübungen im Umkreis S-chanf durch. Somit ist der Bereich zwischen S-chanf und dem Berggasthaus Dürrboden über den Scalettapass gesperrt, bzw. es ist dort Lebensgefährlich.
