Alp Maran is located on a high plateau above the Obersee lake, nestled between Weisshorn, Prätsch and Litzirüti. The centre of the settlement, which once consisted of a few individual farms, is the golf hotel with its 18-hole golf course. This is one of the highest golf courses in Europe. In winter, cross-country skiers do their rounds here. Gliding over the open, gently undulating golf course, the cross-country skiers enjoy a beautiful view of the Arosa mountains and the Schanfigg valley with its original Walser villages. The training on Maran begins with two short descents, before the course climbs moderately and continues practically flat. In the last third, you pass the well-known alpine garden Maran, which is now under a blanket of snow. Afterwards, there is the opportunity to stop for a break - or a sunbath. The Maran training trail is completely sunny from January until April.

Author’s recommendation

On every round, you pass the ETH Zurich's high-alpine research institute. In the summer months there are enormously instructive guided tours. You won't believe how many plants grow and thrive at 1,900 metres above sea level. Come by in summer too!
