The cross-country trail in Pany is never crowded and a well-kept secret. It winds through hilly alpine meadows, idyllic forests and clearings with a beautiful view of the upper Prättigau.

The peaceful and quiet mountain village of Pany offers all the amenities lovers of winter sports enjoy: a T-bar ski lift, extensive winter hiking and snowshoeing trails, sledding runs and, most of all, sunny cross country ski trails which leave nothing to be desired as compared to some of the better known cross country ski destinations.

The starting point of the longest hilly and winding trail in the Pany area is very close to the Riedwies parking lot. Slight ascents followed by level terrain through airy forests of fir and spruce and Meadows passing idyllic small farms leading to the Grossried plain. These farms are typical for the Prättigau, which was settled by the Walser people.

The scenery presents itself as varied as the trail. Bogs of particular beauty and national significance are hidden below the thick snow cover. Cross-country skiers are spoiled by the spectacular view of the middle and upper Prättigau.

Author’s recommendation

Parking on the winter car park Geisswies; Entry into the trail a few meters from the parking lot. Two times slightly uphill to reach the Grossried, where a circuit runs. Here are wonderful and technically difficult rounds turn, or in between also incorporate the whole round No. 2, landscaped as idyllic with a few forest lots.
