Zillis owes its fame mainly to the worldwide unique church ceiling from the 12th century. But Zillis has much more to offer.
The gentle, green valley floor of Val Schons runs at around 1,000 metres above sea level between Roffla Gorge and Viamala Gorge. Also part of Zillis is the picturesque farming village of Reischen on the right side of the valley.
In addition to the world-famous church ceiling, to which a museum is dedicated in Zillis, the second largest municipality in the Schams has other attractions to offer. Also the late Roman cult cave discovered in 1990 by playing children, the castle ruin La Tur, the valley museum Schams, the old trenches from the First World War or the castle Haselstein rebuilt from scratch are sights worth a visit.
